The Dream of Being a Cowboy
Chad Johnson recognized at an early age his love and affection for American agriculture. Although not raised on a farm or the son of a farmer, both of his grandparents were farmers and cattlemen. He would spend weekends, spring break, and summers with his grandparents on their farm. From an early age he romanced of being a cowboy. He never lost his focus of being involved in the cattle industry and contributing to the well being of American agriculture.
Hard Work and Dedication
He graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a degree in Food and Resource Economics, where he served as the President of Alpha Gamma Rho, was an IFAS Ambassador, and elected to Florida Blue Key. He paid his way through college working for Gold Kist Inc. and went on to a successful career in animal health sales. A first generation auctioneer, he taught himself to chant, in-order to teach his oldest son, who enjoyed the auctioneers at the livestock auction markets of Florida. A year later he would be asked to help with a local cake auction. From there he was bitten by the auction bug and realized his calling.
Humble Beginnings
His humble beginnings in the auction industry trace back to that simple FFA Alumni Cake Auction to raise money for students to travel to the National FFA Convention. That successful sale led to many new opportunities and the beginning of his auction adventure. A few years and a couple thousands cakes, pies, watermelons and other items later, they've made a commitment to become a full-time professional auction company.
